The Upper House is in Barlaston, on the outskirts of Stone which makes it a good option for couples planning a wedding in Staffordshire and the surrounding area. It feels tucked away once you arrive, but it is still an easy venue for guests to get to, which matters more than people often realise when planning a wedding.
Aside from the beautiful country house, a big part of its appeal is the pretty grounds for outdoor ceremonies, the garden spaces and woodland areas, as well as expansive, wide open views across the Staffordshire countryside. The Upper House is a lovely venue to photograph.

I love to capture photographs on the grand stair case. The gardens and lawns are lovely for outdoor ceremonies, family groups and couples portraits, and the woodland areas bring in something a little softer. I particularly love shooting here in spring time during blue bell season as the woodlands come alive with a carpet of spring colours.
When the weather is less predictable, there are beautiful indoor areas that photograph well and do not feel like a compromise such as the grand staircase and also the indoor ceremony option here is filled with natural light and views across the gardens.
My approach here is the same as it is across all of my weddings. I am looking for the moments that matter, the people around you, the small reactions you might miss on the day, and the parts that help bring the whole story together. I want the photographs to look good, of course, but I also want them to feel like your wedding rather than a photoshoot that happened to take place there.
If you are planning your wedding at The Upper House and want photographs that capture the day properly without making it all feel staged, I would love to hear more about what you are planning.
