A Precious Heirloom...
Photographs live on forever, preserving a timecapsule of memories for you and your loved ones to delve into time and time again throughout your lifetime together. Not only is your wedding photographer one of the only suppliers who will be with you throughout the entirity of your wedding day, the work they produce will shape and depict the memories of your wedding for the rest of your lifetime. It's important that you choose someone whose personality and style of photography is the perfect fit for your day. I hope this will begin to answer any questions you may have and explain a little more on why i belive choosing your wedding photographer is one of the most important decisions you will make when planning your special day.
Heart and Soul... All in, Everytime.
I put my heart and soul into every single wedding that I photograph and
am passionate about telling the unique story of your wedding day through a relaxed and informal documentary style approach, placing a distinct emphasis on capturing what is real rather than what is set up. I'm looking to go above and beyond, always under the radar, never the biggest personality in the room, just quietly and consistantly there to help when needed and observe and capture the magic that unfolds before me. Documentary or reportage style basically means i'm looking to tell a story with the images that i curate, i'm looking for the details, the emotions, the perspectives. This style of photography builds a complete picture, the who, the where, and the whys - essentially, it tells a beautiful story, your story. I have a friendly, gentle nature which immediately puts people at ease and will at times almost blend into the background, so much so, you may forget I am there. But there I will be, capturing natural smiles, real laughs, real moments. A tender kiss on the head, a nervous squeeze of the hand, a deep breath or a quiet moment of reflection. These are the moments that will, in years to come, evoke memories of not only what you looked like, but how you felt on your special day.
But photos make us feel awkward...
Snap, absolutely me too, it's like my worst nightmare which is why i much prefer to be this side of the lens but because i know what it feels like to be nervous in front of the camera, i can help my couples to relax with simple guidance, by not being up in your face with a camera, by giving you space to breathe and just be yourselves, i'm absolutely not about awkward posing or big grins straight down the lens, in fact i rarely ask you to look directly at me, its more about capturing the connection you share naturally. Thats not to say i won't give you some pointers here and there, but it will never be forced or rigid. That connection could be shot as the two of you stroll hand in hand back towards your guests. It could be an impromptu kiss on the head or a loving glance in between shots. As much as possible, I like to leave you both to interact with your guests and enjoy all the moments that your special day brings, but I usually recommend we schedule about 30 minutes at some point in your day for some artistic couple photographs of the two of you. Whether you are naturally photogenic or whether being photographed is your worst nightmare my relaxed approach and creative ideas will have us capturing beautiful images that you will want to put on your wall.
Lets talk about frosting... i mean group shots.
Couples who choose to book me are looking for a more natural, relaxed feel to their photos and opt to have just a sprinkling of organised (traditional) family group shots. The way i view the group shots is like this... Imagine a delicious cupcake if you will, the sponge and the filling are the main event, the photos I capture during your wedding morning, the ceremony, your beautiful couple portraits, the speeches, your first dance and all of the candid shots in between - the traditional family and group shots are like the sweet frosting or sprinkles on the top, a lovely addition but they need to be carefully balanced out. My couples know that a huge long list of required family shots is a bit of a creativity killer, and it'll also feel very photo intensive for the two of you too for the whole duration of your drinks reception. I find a pre determined list of between 8-12 carefully chosen family group shots provides a perfectly balanced cupcake that takes care of the important family shots to keep the relatives happy and provides an easy, relaxed flow to proceedings. If you know you'll want lots more variations of groups shots than this, i might not be the right photographer for you. But, if you'd like just a sprinkling of important ones, completed in a professional, swift and efficient manner and you love the sound of my relaxed approach, i'd love to hear more about your plans!
