I was honoured to be asked by The Moat House to photograph this beautiful summer inspiration shoot, created in collaboration with some of my favourite Staffordshire wedding suppliers.
The aim of the shoot was to create fresh, elegant and summery wedding inspiration for couples planning their day at The Moat House. Rather than anything overly posed or theatrical, we wanted the images to feel natural, romantic and full of warmth.
We worked with Heloisa and Marcio, a married couple who modelled for the shoot, which gave the photographs a lovely sense of ease and connection.
We began the day in the Colin Lewis Suite, where Sorella had dressed the room with soft whites, fresh greens and candlelight. The space is often used as a ceremony setting at The Moat House, so it was lovely to see it styled in a slightly different way, as an intimate wedding breakfast celebration.
The styling worked beautifully with the character of the room, creating a look that felt elegant, fresh and romantic without being too formal.
I photographed the space in two ways. First, I captured wider images to show the features of the Colin Lewis Suite and how the full table set up could look. Then I moved closer to photograph the smaller details, including the candles, florals and place settings. These are often the details couples spend so much time choosing, so it always feels important to photograph them carefully before the room fills with guests.

While the room was being photographed, Amelia Hairstyling and Filter and Post created a soft glam bridal look for Heloisa. It was polished and elegant, but still felt fresh and natural, which suited the feel of the shoot beautifully.
Kevin Paul Suit Hire provided a selection of suits for Marcio to choose from, while Lucy Alexander Bridal Specialist provided a stunning satin gown for Heloisa. The dress had such a beautiful shape and movement, and the satin caught the light in a way that felt timeless and refined.
Once Heloisa and Marcio were ready, we brought them up to the Colin Lewis Suite to photograph them within the finished room. The table styling gave us a beautiful setting for some elegant seated portraits, but I also wanted to make the most of the natural light.
The Colin Lewis Suite has lovely window light, and I used this to create soft bridal portraits of Heloisa before bringing Marcio in for couple photographs. The contrast of the dark wood panelling, soft window light and elegant bridal styling gave this part of the shoot a slightly more refined, editorial feel while still keeping the images relaxed and natural.

We then headed outside to photograph the lakeside pavilion, which had been set up for an outdoor ceremony. It was a very bright, sunny day with direct sunshine, so I focused first on wider images that showed the beauty of the manor house, the lakeside setting and the outdoor ceremony space.
Bright sunshine can be challenging to photograph in, especially with pale fabrics and reflective surfaces, but it can also create images that feel full of warmth and energy when handled carefully.
After photographing the wider setting, I seated Heloisa and Marcio near the green door of the house for some more natural couple photographs. This gave us a softer, more relaxed setting while still keeping the character of The Moat House in the background.

The rowing boat was my favourite part of the shoot. Sorella had dressed it with bright summer florals, and it created such a beautiful focal point beside the water.
Heloisa and Marcio were absolute professionals, and this part of the shoot gave us a real mix of images. Some felt soft, natural and romantic, while others had a more fashion style feel, especially with Heloisa in the satin gown. She was an exceptional model, and the combination of the dress, the flowers, the sunshine and the lakeside setting created some of my favourite photographs from the day.

This shoot was a lovely reminder of how versatile The Moat House can be as a wedding venue. The Colin Lewis Suite offers an elegant indoor space, while the lakeside setting and outdoor ceremony area bring a completely different feel to the day.
For couples planning a summer wedding, this shoot shows how beautifully whites, greens, candlelight and brighter florals can work together. It also shows that wedding photographs do not need to feel stiff or overly posed to look elegant. With the right light, gentle direction and a little space to enjoy the moment, portraits can feel natural while still looking polished and timeless.
