Who is behind the camera?
Hello! My name is Samantha, although everyone calls me Sam, and im way closer to late thirties than i care to admit. I am the person behind Samantha Lowe Photography and the one you will find behind the camera. I live with my husband and our daughter in a small village just outside Stafford, Staffordshire.
Meet the real me...
When i'm not shooting beautiful weddings or buried under a pile of editing (and laundry) you'll find me at the farm. I'm naturally an introvert, which suits my relaxed, documentary and unintrusive style of photography perfectly but when my introverted soul requires a recharge on my social battery, youll find me, more often than not, chilling with my horse Dori at the farm. With my lifetime love of horses comes an appreciation for nature and the outdoors, we have a loveable doofus of a Labrador Retriever called Jackson who is getting on at nearly 13 but still showing no signs of locating his brain cells. We said goodbye to my heart dog (pictured in the bluebells below) recently and just coming on here and realising i needed to edit this paragraph to say we have one dog instead of two caught me off guard and now i'm sniffling once more. I'll miss her my whole life.
I'm naturally drawn to things that twinkle and elegantly sparkle, I love planning things - give me a destination or an event to plan, and a budget and i'll have you a full itinerary and spreadsheet within the hour! I love a good cup of tea, blankets, candles and a disney movie marathon. After growing up watching F1 with my Dad, a Sunday evening snuggled up watching the formula one is my perfect way to unwind from a weekend of weddings.
Why Photography?
Following the birth of our little girl, I was startled at how quickly precious moments pass in the blink of an eye. It became apparent that although the human brain is truly amazing, over time, little details, the key little moments - are simply forgotten. It was then, I truly appreciated the importance of photographs. Photographs suddenly became treasures, memory preserving treasures that bring moments, details and emotions flooding back. From what started as a determination to record snapshots of our daughter's milestones arose a passion for creating beautiful images. From capturing our daughter's first steps on a second hand, relic of a DSLR camera, my journey with photography then progressed to equestrian portraiture (my husband surprised me with a professional grade camera for Christmas - I actually cried) and equestrian event coverage and then five years down the line I took the plunge into wedding photography. It was always going to be about weddings for me. I am a true romantic, a sucker for fairytales, love stories and a little bit of sparkle. I love absolutely everything about weddings. From the grand to the intimate, the themed to the traditional - each wedding tells a story and I feel honoured to be able to record this story for you to cherish for the rest of your lifetime together.
