We have all been to that wedding where you stand in the baking hot sun for what feels like forever while some dinosaur of a photographer with a personality complex puts you in line after line after line and asks you to grin for the camera? You are starving hungry, boiling hot and your face aches from the slightly psychotic smile that has been fixed there for the last hour. If that's what you were looking for, then it is probably best if you hit the back button on your browser because.... That is definitely not my style.
So if I'm not a dinosaur and I dont spend hours putting you in cheesy poses, what do I do and how does it work on the wedding day?
I specialise in a natural, storytelling style of wedding photography. I am not about awkward posing or barking directions, I am about capturing details, feelings, the who, the where, the why. I am about capturing celebrations not formal portraits. I am about fitting right in to your family for the day, laughing with you, crying with you, being accepted as part of the furniture rather than standing out as someone who makes people feel awkward and shy. I am about allowing the day to unfold before me, rather than setting things up, capturing you interacting naturally with your friends and family so that essentially, you enjoy your special day rather than feeling like you are doing a 12 hour photoshoot. Most couples will want some romantic, couple shots of the two of them (the ones that you want to put on a canvas for your wall) but again these are taken informally, concentrating on real feelings rather than posed grins. I only occasionally ask you both to look directly at the camera, it should be about the connection between the two of you, and big grins straight down the lens doesnt tell much of a story. Family shots, group shots, however you want to brand them, still have their place at most weddings (it keeps the older generations happy) but a predetermined list of about 6-10 groups is a comfortable amount and they are taken care of logically and efficiently to ensure people don't get restless. Equally, it's your day, and if you want to do away with these completely then I am totally on that boat with you!
Will your style suit my wedding?
My style of photography suits couples who are looking to have a relaxed, laid back wedding where the emphasis is on having fun. It suits those who dont particularly feel comfortable being photographed. It suits couples who are looking for a happy medium, a predominantly documentary style with a small sprinkling of family groups shots to keep the relatives happy. It suits couples who want to feel something real when looking back over their photographs, not just admire how they looked. It suits couples who are looking for a friendly, down to earth photographer who is polite, well mannered and professional.
We came across Sam when searching for a local wedding photographer. We knew she was the one for us when we saw her website. So straight forward; type in what your after and your price is generate (no hidden costs!) Sam is such a down to earth, laid back person. She suited our style of wedding planning down to the ground. Fantastic! On the wedding day, Sam was brilliant, she felt like part of the family, subtly capturing special moments from our day and even running around keeping an eye on our 18 month old son! She goes above and beyond. After a whirlwind 2 weeks following our wedding, the photographs had been edited and were ready for us to view and print at our leisure. They are beautiful, I dont know how we are going to choose which ones to print. Thank you so much Sam!

Sam was the photographer for our wedding at The Chase Golf Club and I honestly couldn't recommend her enough. She just fitted right into our big day, none of the photos or moments ever felt forced, I loved her natural photography style; you didn't even notice she was there! Nothing was too much of an ask and all our guests have said how friendly she was and what a good job she did. You will not find any one better if you want a relaxed, natural style and stunning photos.
