If you’re planning your wedding at Foxtail Barns, you’ve chosen one of Staffordshire’s most beautiful countryside venues. With its modern glass ceremony space, rustic barns and rolling rural views, it’s a venue that offers incredible opportunities for natural, relaxed wedding photography.
I’ve photographed weddings at Foxtail Barns and understand how to make the most of the light, layout and landscape to create timeless images that feel effortless and authentic.
Foxtail Barns blends contemporary architecture with rural charm. The bright, airy ceremony space is flooded with natural light, which means your ceremony photographs feel bright and clean, it's as close to an outside ceremony as you can get with the added bonus of a roof so you don't need to worry about the weather.
The surrounding grounds provide
Dramatic lakeside photographs and sprawling views over the Staffordshire countryside
Woodland areas with towering pine trees
Beautiful sunset backdrops
Manicured walled gardens
This mix allows for a varied gallery without leaving the venue.
For couples who want relaxed, documentary-style images with a touch of elegance, it’s an ideal setting.
Every venue has areas that work best at certain times of day. At Foxtail Barns, these are my go-to locations:
The natural light here is one of the venue’s biggest strengths, the light is diffused and soft which is the most flattering kind of light. This area can also be used for family and group photographs in the event of really bad weather.
Perfect for confetti shots and candid guest moments as well as family and group photographs. The enclosed space keeps everyone together, perfect for mingling and makes it a safe space for little guests to burn off steam, creating energy and fun in the images.
Just a short walk from the barns, the stunning lakeside landscape gives you that expansive, romantic feel. This is especially beautiful in golden hour light.
Foxtail Barns truly comes into its own at sunset. Even ten minutes of soft evening light can create some of the most striking images of the day.
I always recommend building 10–15 minutes of sunset time into your timeline if the weather allows.
The flow of the venue makes it easy to photograph naturally without constant staging.
Preparations usually take place onsite, which keeps everything relaxed.
The ceremony barn transitions smoothly into drinks in the courtyard.
The wedding breakfast space provides a warm, atmospheric backdrop.
Evening celebrations feel intimate but lively.
Because everything is contained within one location, we don’t lose time travelling. That means more genuine moments captured and less stress for you.
If you’re in the planning stages, here are a few tips specific to this venue:
Consider your ceremony time carefully if you want golden hour portraits. The time of year will affect this so it's best to plan ahead. If sunset is important to you, you won't want to find it clashes with your speeches or sitting down for the wedding breakfast. I am happy to provide guidance on this, just ask.
Leave breathing space between drinks reception and wedding breakfast for relaxed group photos. Nothing creates a feeling of stress more than a pinched timeline and a never ending list of groups - I can provide guidance on how many is a comfortable, relaxed amount to suit each couple and the timeline of the day.
If you’re having sparklers or evening portraits, the courtyard works beautifully being lit with beauitful fairylights.
Small timeline adjustments can make a huge difference to your final gallery and I am always happy to advise.
Every wedding at Foxtail Barns has its own personality. Some couples lean into the rustic charm; others style the space with modern elegance.
What remains consistent is the atmosphere — relaxed, joyful and intimate.
My approach is always the same:
Minimal intrusion
Natural direction when needed
Capturing genuine emotion
Creating portraits that feel effortless
You’ll receive a gallery that tells the full story of your day, not just a collection of posed images.
